Sunday 24th November, Parkhill Primary School, Leven
On Sunday 24th November Leven was the place to be for the seventh Family Funday of Musicmaking and that is exactly what it was - a fun day for all the family full of laughter and happy children enjoying the experience of making music and learning more about it, while having a good time. Outside the weather was cloudy and damp but inside Parkhill Primary School the atmosphere was warm and sunny with the halls, corridors and classrooms filled with music. The day's visitors and participants from tiny tots to grans and grandads, numbered between 150 and 200. One lady was delighted to revisit the school where she had started her education 75 years previously!
The day got off to a great start with an opening performance by Levenmouth Academy Windband and later on the Parkhill Primary School Choir performed a lovely medley of songs. The third performance of the day was from the schools’s ukulele club. The smiles and obvious enjoyment of the children as they performed was a joy to watch.
The main live performance feature of the day was a 45 minute performance by Travelling by Tuba from Manchester which engaged, entertained and dazzled the audience with a display of brass and other instruments and some playing of the highest quality. Young members of the audience were encouraged to join in and to try various instruments.
Throughout the day ‘Come and try’ workshop sessions were available for jumbie jam, samba, ukulele, singing games, music making for the very young and pipe band drumming.
Meanwhile, the Festival's fundraising shop, the tea bar and face painting all added to the day's merrymaking.
A truly successful Family Funday of Music Making.
