Fife Festival of Music November 2022

Family Funday at Fife Festival of Music

Sunday 20th November, Kirkcaldy High School
Picture
On Sunday 20th November Fife Festival of Music returned after nearly three years with the eighth Family Funday of Musicmaking and what better way to celebrate being back than having a record number of people - well over 300 - come along to enjoy what was a fun day for all the family, full of laughter and happy children enjoying the experience of making music and learning more about it, while having a good time.

People were welcomed at the door by the the young piper Euan Hutt  with some excellent playing, then the day started  with an opening performance by Dysart Colliery Silver Band ensemble. Other musical treats included performances by Aberdour Flutes and by Kirkcaldy High School pupils.

The main live performance feature of the day was the very welcome return of  the hugely  talented Travelling by Tuba from Manchester who gave a highly entertaining,  and colourful performance and dazzled the audience with a display of brass and other instruments, and some playing of the highest quality. Young members of the audience were encouraged to join in and to try various instruments.

Throughout the day ‘Come and try’ workshop sessions were available for jumbie jam, samba, ukulele, singing games, music making for the very young and pipe band drumming.

Meanwhile, the Festival's fundraising shop, the tea bar, a quiz and face painting all added to the day's merrymaking.

A truly successful Family Funday of Music Making.

With support from the Festival, its Friends, some funds from the former Fife Youth Music Activities Charitable Trust, and in partnership with Kirkcaldy High School, KHS Community Use, Friends of Kirkcaldy High School and Fife Council Instrumental Music Service and YMI.
