Fife Festival of Music 29 January - 8 February 2019
After ten days of music making the 39th Fife Festival of Music came to an end on Friday evening with a wonderful display of talent in the Young Singers Recital Class and and the Young Musician 2019 class. Over the ten days, more than five thousand people, young and not so young, came along to the three venues to sing, play instruments and share their love of all things musical. The two winners on Friday evening were Jennifer Paton of Kinghorn who won the Cantabile Quaich in the Young Singers Recital Class and Nathan Jackson of Dalgety Bay who as winner of The Young Musician Class 2019 won the Glen More Trophy.

Fundraising for the Festival: THANK YOU!
On Sunday 9th September, Graeme completed his 14th Great North Run, the half-marathon from Newcastle to South Shields,
Back in February 2018, Fife Festival of Music Chairman Graeme Wilson announced his intention to use his 14th Great North Run half-marathon as a fundraiser for the Festival and he started seeking sponsorship from friends and music colleagues.
From the outset, there was great encouragement and there were many people willing to support him. An initial target of £1,000 was soon overtaken and Graeme is now delighted to announce the final total raised of £2,101 including Gift Aid.
Over 160 people have donated towards this magnificent title and as Graeme said: "I had the easy job; all of the people were the real stars digging in their pockets to offer support to the Festival's work." He is very grateful to them all and hopes that his thanks will reach all who supported him.
Most of the donors were known to Graeme: among the groups represented were the Festival itself, Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society, Haydays in St Andrews, The Langtoun Singers, Scottish Association for Music Education, Bennochy Community Choir and Fife Council Instrumental Music Service.
The run itself was fun as always: a warm day made it a pleasant outing and the picture shows Graeme back at his base in recovered mode!
A special word of thanks to the donation website wonderful.org which, unlike most such sites, hands over 100% of the monies pledged on-line.
