Fife Festival of
Music The trio of pupils from Elie PS who took part: Ann Ashworth, Georgina Wheway, Victoria Adamson
This event at Rothes Halls was the second in the Barbara McManus Memorial
series organised by Fife Festival of Music and it attracted a lot of interest.
The attached page shows
the running order. There was a relaxed but positive feel to the day
due in no small measure to the two leaders, Margaret Wakeford and Simon
Coverdale. All of the young musicians taking part performed well and responded
to the sympathetic yet challenging encouragement offered by Margaret and
Simon. The two presenters were not only able to inspire the players, they
worked on several levels at once always considering and addressing the audience
of other players, teachers, parents and other interested observers. There
were present several people from an interest only perspective. In addition
to participants from within Fife, there were a few from Perth and Edinburgh.
In summing up the day and offering thanks to all, John McManus expressed
his delight at the event and his own learning from the day's work.
There is no doubt that the workshop was highly successful and all involved
are thanked for their part in that success: Margaret and Simon for their
work, John for his support, Fife Festival of Music for its organisation,
Rothes Halls for all arrangements and catering, Fife Council Education Service
for encouraging both teachers and pupils to participate (in the former case,
receiving useful Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the process),
Lochgelly HS reprograhics for printing.
