Fife Festival of
Music The Fife Festival of Music was founded in 1981 to support and develop
music making in the community. An original five-year sponsorship was generously
donated by the TSB.
The Festival exists to encourage musicians of all ages, in every kind of
choral and instrumental activity, to perform in public.
In striving for excellence in performance, those who wish to compete are
encouraged by the award of an array of trophies donated by firms, groups
and individuals.
From the infant class to the seasoned performer the highest standards of
achievement are attained, giving pleasure and fulfilment to performers and
audiences alike.
The Fife Festival of Music takes place each year around the end of January, beginning of February and has grown in size to the extent that it now requires two weeks to run. As many as a dozen or so adjudicators are required to officiate, with an army of stewards, clerks, committee members, friends and supporters all assisting in the running of the festival. Entry levels in recent years have reached almost one thousand in number.
In order to live up to its name of FIFE Festival of Music different centres throughout the region are used to host classes. Festival events can, therefore, be found taking place in the following locations:
